Running a business and employing staff means being subject to inspections by public authorities such as the National Labour Inspectorate (PIP), the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS), and, in some cases, even the police or public prosecutor’s office. In practice, these inspections are no longer treated as purely formal procedures.
