The hospitality sector has relied on flexible forms of employment for years. B2B contracts, outsourcing and contracts of service allow hotels and restaurants to respond efficiently to seasonality, fluctuating occupancy rates, and cost pressures. However, concerns arise in situations where ‘flexibility’ in practice begins to resemble a traditional employment relationship. It is precisely these situations that labour inspectors will be closely monitoring from 8 July onwards. On this day, new regulations come into force which empower the State Labour Inspection (PIP) to unilaterally convert contracts based on the Civil Code into standard employment contracts. – Bartosz Tomanek, and Mateusz Krajewski comment to the Hotelarz magazine.
